Our Tallow Balm is a restorative and sustaining skin cream, made from grass fed beef tallow and organic jojoba oil. It nourishes, moisturizes, and repairs your skin, and it can be used in place of traditional lotions, face creams, restorative salves, and much more. It is a natural alternative to many traditional skincare products, and a kind companion to anyone with sensitive skin or concerns about safety. Whether your needs are for dry, aging, sensitive, damaged, or oily skin, Tallow Balm will be a superb choice.

Tallow: Tallow is a rendered form of animal fat that is known to have high concentrations of oleic, palmitic, and stearic acid, and for being high in the vitamins A, D, E, and K, which are all recognized for their benefits to skin and general health. Its nature makes it very similar to our own sebum (skin oil), and as such, it is very nourishing and tends to work in harmony with our skin. Additionally, it is noncomedogenic - which means it is not likely to clog pores and cause breakouts - making it a superior choice for skincare. It has not been used in mainstream skincare products for a long time because it is costly, and its color, odor, and consistency can be very unpredictable. Tallow varies depending on the time of year it was obtained, the type of animal and breed of animal within that type that it came from, what that animal ate, how the tallow was rendered, and probably even the favorite television series of the farmer who raised the animal. Sometimes the tallow is softer and scoops easily onto your finger, and other times it may be stiffer and require a bit more work. Either way, tallow melts at 85 degrees Fahrenheit and will easily melt, spread, and absorb into your skin. A little bit can cover quite a bit of surface area, so don't feel the need to liberally apply it unless you really want to.

Jojoba Oil: We chose jojoba oil to compliment our tallow after much testing and deliberation. Jojoba oil comes from the seed of a shrub that typically grows in the southwest parts of the United States, and in Mexico. Historically, natives of the region would place the seeds onto hot embers, forcing the oil to the surface. They would then use it in medicine and on skin for its notable healing properties. Not only is jojoba oil fast becoming a popular product in skincare for its seemingly endless benefits, but it is also very unlikely to cause reactions to sensitive skin, it is fast absorbing, it is noncomedogenic, and it was, hands down, our favorite choice in all of the oils that we have tried.
